Sondra Dallen

Born on October 23, 1941, in Norton, Kansas, Sondra was one of Benjamin and Geneva Lowe’s three children. Sondra passed away on August 18, 2023 at the age of 81. Sondra grew up in Norton, Kansas while her father served in the Army during WWII in the European Theater. After the war, Sondra’s family moved to Clay Center, Kansas and then to Concordia, Kansas where she graduated from Concordia High School in 1959. Sondra studied at Brown Mackie College in Salina, Kansas. She was introduced to DeWayne Dallen who was stationed at Schilling Air Force Base and was also from Concordia. They rode home together on weekends from that point on. DeWayne and Sondra were married on March 13, 1960. They recently celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary. Together they had 3 children: Jeff, Linda and Greg. During the early years of married life, Sondra was a homemaker and stay at home mom. She was a Den Mom for the Boy Scouts when the boys were young. She did not return to the workforce until all of her children were in grade school. Sondra was a secretary for an Insurance Company, Graves Truck Line, and Kansas Power and Light. Sondra was known for her incredible short hand, typing and organizational abilities. Sondra retired from Goddard High School where she enjoyed working as secretary to the Principal and helping the students. She often commented on the number of High School Graduation Programs and sports rosters she typed out. Sondra had many talents and hobbies. Early on she enjoyed making ceramics, playing bridge, playing the piano, water skiing, square dancing, a book club member and an avid KU Basketball and Kansas City Chiefs Football Fan. She loved her family. Sondra is survived by two Sons: Jeff Dallen, Greg Dallen and his wife Allison. One Daughter: Linda Bender and her husband Phillip. Seven Grandchildren: Andrew Bender and his wife Alex, Nathan Bender and his wife Lauren, Lucas Dallen, Joshua Dallen, Zachary Dallen, Michael Wilson and his wife Sara, Ryan Wilson and his wife Emma. Three Great Grandchildren: Molly Bender, Madelyn Bender and Finn Bender. One Brother: Ronald Lowe and his wife Arlene and numerous nieces and nephews. Sondra is preceded in death by her Husband: DeWayne Dallen, Parents: Benjamin Wesley Lowe and Geneva Kathleen Stephenson Lowe. One Brother: Galen Wesley Lowe and one grandson, Matthew Dallen. The family wishes to thank Prairie House and Season Hospice Staffs for the love and care given to Sondra the past 4 months. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Samaritan’s Purse.
