Russell Harper

Glena Russell Harper was born in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma to parents, Coy and Lucy (Hale) Harper on Saturday, September 5, 1931. He passed at his home in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma surrounded by loving family on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at the age of 89. His services are under the direction of Hayhurst Funeral Home. Russell was a Broken Arrow High School graduate. He then joined the United States Air Force where he met the love of his life, Lucy Wyant. They were married on December 3, 1954. They celebrated 64 years of marriage before her passing in 2018. Russell was a truck driver and logged many miles on the road to support Lucy and their 4 children. He retired from driving in 1985. After retiring, Russell liked spending time at home. He was a great gardener. He enjoyed taking care of his yard and tending his cattle. He was a human road map and could always tell you the best route to take to any destination. He also enjoyed meeting with his friends, better known as “The Liar’s Club”, for coffee most mornings. He would always learn a new joke that he couldn’t wait to tell to his family. Although most of the time he would laugh harder at his joke than anyone else. It was watching him crack himself up that would make his family smile and laugh. His smile, laugh, jokes and generous loving heart will be greatly missed. He is survived by, Daughters, Kerin Todaro of Tulsa, Oklahoma Kenda Ewing & Gordon of Tulsa, Oklahoma Sons, Russ Harper & Tammy of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma Kelly Harper & Carey of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma Grandson, Brandon Riley & Sheila of Bixby, Oklahoma Granddaughter, Ashley Lewelling & Josh of Tulsa, Oklahoma Granddaughter, Brooke Riley & Jason of Owasso, Oklahoma Granddaughter, Cortney Hagan of Dewey Oklahoma Granddaughter, Caitlin Sanderson of Dewey, Oklahoma Granddaughter, Cali Steele & Adam of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma Grandson, Darren Schaefer of Oolagah, Oklahoma Preceded in death by parents, wife, Lucy, sisters, Maxine & Geraldine, brothers, Herman, Howard & Perry.
