Robert Brinkley

Robert Mac Brinkley “Papa” was taken to his eternal home on February 24, 2020 after a hard fought battle with cancer. Robert’s story began in Monticello, Arkansas on May 24, 1950 when he was born to Robert and Elizabeth (Ferrell) Brinkley. Robert graduated from Muskogee High School in 1969. He enlisted right out of high school and proudly served our country until his honorable discharge from the United States Air Force in 1975. After his military service he went on to get his Environmental Engineering degree at Northeastern State University. Robert married the love of his life and his high school sweetheart Sandra Lee Ary on July 10, 1970 at Shiloh Baptist Church in Muskogee, OK. They would have been married for 50 years in July. Robert was a wonderful and loving husband and father, but the title he loved the most was Papa. He loved his 3 children more than he could ever express but was happiest when he was given his 5 beautiful grandbabies. They could sure make him smile! Robert loved being with his family more than just about anything but also enjoyed home remodeling and woodwork. He also loved fishing and enjoyed many trips to Lake Guerrero in Mexico where he caught 4 trophy fish over the years. Robert was retired from Vance Air Force Base where he was an environmental engineer. He also worked many years for Seiscor Technologies as a facilities maintenance engineer. Robert is survived by his beautiful wife, Sandra Brinkley, a son Robert Chad Brinkley and his wife Jennifer Brinkley, a Son Michael Shane Brinkley and his wife Melissa Brinkley, and a daughter Brandy Dawn Tate and her husband Buddy Tate They have 5 precious grandchildren; Sierra Renae Brinkley, Madison Tate, Avalynn Brinkley, Simon Brinkley and Essie Leigh Tate. All of which earned the nickname “Sugar Booger” when they were little. Robert is also survived by two brothers; David Brinkley and Steven Brinkley and two sisters; Judy Crabtree and Trudy Edwards, Rick Ary his brother in law and Kathy Ary his sister in law. He was also survived my many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces and Nephews, and many, many great friends. A memorial reception will follow the memorial service at 3 pm at the family's home: 3404 North Oak Avenue, Broken Arrow, OK 74012
