Services for Jim Summers have been scheduled for 10:00 AM, Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at 29th and Yale Church of Christ, Tulsa, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Hayhurst Funeral Home. Jim Summers was born on Thursday, July 5, 1928 in Mountain Home Township, Arkansas, the son of Thomas Marion and Molly (Bates) Summers. Jim died on Friday, November 27, 2015 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was 87 years of age. Jim attended school in Bixby, Oklahoma. He worked for Safeway as a Truck Driver. Jim married Ella Louise Carr on July 1, 1946 in Coweta, Oklahoma. Jim enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing. He was a Little League Baseball Coach and Boy Scout Leader. Some of his other hobbies include; mechanics, woodworking, and vegetable gardening. After retirement, Jim and Louise enjoyed traveling and taking bus tours with church friends. He was a member of 29th and Yale Church of Christ, where he served for many years. Jim loved to spend time with his family and assist in anyway he could. He took care of his immediate and extended family when needed. He always reminded his kids and grandkids to “be one of the good guys”. Memorials may be made to Frog Road Christian Camp - Church of Christ, Attn: Johnny Hinton, 2901 South Yale, Tulsa, OK 74114. Jim is survived by, Daughters, Jimmie Lynette Banks and husband Richard Pamela Sue Summers Grandchildren, Jennifer Lynette Thompson and husband Christopher, Heather Lynn Taite, Cari Dawn Aberle and husband Alan, Matthew Thomas Summers and wife Janice, Becky Elizabeth Prine and husband Eddie, Bradley Scott Wilkerson, James Thomas Summers and wife Lydia, Daniel Thomas Summers and wife Tasha, Brandon J Wilkerson and wife Meredith Great-Grandchildren, Molly, Kyla, Rachel, Aren, Easton, Owen, Seláh, Bryson, Caris, Drew, Nathan, Jake, Ella, Brynlee, and Anderson He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Molly Summers, wife, Ella Louise Summers, son, Thomas Anderson Summers, daughter-in-law, Vicki Leanne Summers, great-granddaughter, Emerson Louise Prine, siblings, Rena Lewis, Ernest Summers, Mae Judy, Nora Cotner, Marvin Summers, Ruth Clark and Norma Jo Duvall.
