Helen Eileen Parsons Services honoring Helen Eileen Parsons will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 3, 2020 at St. Stephen’s United Methodist Church, Broken Arrow, OK. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery Tulsa, OK. Viewing will be at the Hayhurst Funeral Home, Broken Arrow on Thursday January 2, 2020 from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with family there to receive visitors from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Helen was born in Carl Junction, Missouri on Wednesday, September 23, 1931 to Willard Henry Johnson and Margaret (Gideon) Johnson. Helen passed away in Tulsa, Oklahoma on Friday, December 27, 2019 at the age of 88. Helen graduated from Baxter Springs High School and went on to attend University of Tulsa and joined the Kappa Delta Sorority. She married Gary Parsons in Baxter Springs, Kansas on March 1, 1952. Helen was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She adored her family and loved spending time with them. Helen was a loving and compassionate person who loved helping others. She was a charter member of St. Stephen’s United Church for over 49 years. Helen loved God and loved her church family. As one of the founding members of the St Stephens United Methodist Church, Helen’s accomplishments included being Choir Director and was an active part of her Sunday school class. She sat on many boards and contributed to mission activities. She loved her work as a St Francis Hospital South Auxiliary for many years. One of her most proud moments was being honored by the President’s Council of Service and Civic Participation that was signed by President George W. Bush for her volunteer work. Helen loved all sports both as a spectator and participant. She also liked square dancing and playing bridge with her friends and family. Memorials may be made to St. Stephen’s Care Ministries, 400 W. New Orleans, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma 74011. Helen is survived by, Husband, Gary Parsons, Broken Arrow, OK Children, Richard Parsons and Maria, Broken Arrow, OK DeAnn Duggins and Pat, Broken Arrow, OK Grandchildren, Eric W. Pearson and Leigh Hayden Combe and Justin, Paula Amsden and Keith, Patrick Duggins and Amber, Numerous other family including great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Helen was preceded in death by her parents and brother Willard A. Johnson. Memorials may be made to St Stephens Care Ministries and/or Music Department in lieu of flowers.
