George "Bud" Bechtel

Bud went to meet his Lord Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, November 29, 2024 at home with his loved ones. George “Bud” Wayne Bechtel was the second born to Helen and E.L. “Dutch” Bechtel on June 26, 1931. He was born and raised in Paoli, Oklahoma. Bud met the love of his life, Freda in grade school and they were married on October 24, 1952. Together they created a beautiful life and family, having a son, David and a precious daughter, Julie. Bud graduated from East Central State College with a Bachelor in Science Education Degree in 1953. He started his career in the oil industry as a draftsman with Marathon Oil Company. He later went on to work for MAPCO Pipeline Company as a Right of Way Manager and retired from MAPCO 1994. Over the years he was a member of the Tractor Club, Car Club, and Organ Club. He was known to play a mean game of cards or dominoes with his family or friends. Bud enjoyed working in the garden with Freda or in his workshop. He loved going down to the farm he built in Paoli mowing, picking pecans, hunting or spending time with family. He was an active member of his church and loved the Lord. Bud is preceded in death by his loving wife, Freda, their daughter Julie, parents Helen and EL “Dutch”, sister Carol McLaughlin, and brother Kenneth Bechtel. Bud leaves behind his son David and wife Diane Bechtel, granddaughter Cara and husband Andy Lenger, granddaughter Alissa and husband Derek Marlow, great-grandchildren Brighton Lenger, Logan Lenger, and Reese Mae Marlow and step grandchildren Erin Pankey, Karisa (Mike and daughter Mary Jane) Adams, Dina (Anthony, children Izzy and Dalten), Nguyen, Dave (son Chevy) Pankey, Kent (Cuc, children Allison and Evelyn) Pankey, and Nicole (children Reagan and Shaun) Pankey. Funeral services will be held Wednesday December 4, 2024 at 1:00pm at Hayhurst Funeral Home in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Bud will be buried in the Paoli Cemetery at on Thursday December 5, 2024 at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers those wishing can make a donation to the Baptist Children’s Home in Owasso Oklahoma.
