Geneva Lee Robinson

A memorial visitation for Geneva Lee Robinson will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at Hayhurst Funeral Home in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma on Saturday, February 20, 2016. Geneva passed away on Thursday, February 11, 2016. She was 85 years of age. Geneva was born on September 9, 1930 in Holdenville, Oklahoma to Cy H. and Maimie (Brewer) Lucas. She was a student at Fairview High School. During her years in high school, Geneva was an accomplished basketball player and held the high school record for free throws for many years. On January 3, 1948 Geneva married James Robinson in a Wetumka, Oklahoma wedding ceremony. Their union was blessed with two daughters. Geneva was a strong, loving, wonderful wife and mother. She supported her husband’s naval career and took care of her family while he was away for active duty during the Korean War, after he had served in World War II. Geneva loved her family and spending time with them and when her grandchildren and great grandchildren came along they were the light of her life. There were also many, many, many nieces and nephews. She adored and cherished her beloved family. Geneva was employed at Safeway and Wal-Mart where she worked as a meatpacker and also a floral designer. Geneva was good about just about anything she tried but she found she had a talent for floral design. Robinson and siblings, Jim Lucas, Virginia Avey, Mary Ellen Williams, Bernice Dunn, and brother-in-law John Robinson. If tears could build a stairway, and memories a lane, I’d walk right up to Heaven and bring you home again. God saw you getting tired, and a cure was not to be, so he put his arms around you, and whispered “Come To Me.” With tearful eyes we watched you, and felt you pass away, and although we loved you dearly we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest, God broke our hearts to prove to us, “He Only Takes The Best.”
