Fran Powers

Frances Ann Powers was born Friday, March 24, 1950 in Auburn, New York to David, Jr, and Anna (Conger) Nettleton. Fran was one of seven children and quickly learned a strong work ethic and the need for higher education. After completing her degrees, Fran did what she was born to do. She became a teacher and worked at Moravia Central School in Moravia NY and retired in 2007. This ultimately culminated in her teaching education and ethics in ministry classes on the college level. However, Fran was not finished with her own education. She moved to Broken Arrow, OK to attend Rhema Bible Training College to prepare to be more deeply involved in ministry. She worked as a chaplain in a Cancer Care Center in Tulsa, where she was highly respected by the nurses and doctors for her ability to communicate with the patients and to encourage them in their efforts to get well. Fran also volunteered on the Indian reservations of Arizona. There she taught and sang and involved herself in every way she was needed. She was involved with disaster relief teams through her church. Fran Powers was ordained by Sunday Sessions Church. During her years at Sunday Sessions, Fran served in numerous capacities. She formed and was in charge of the weekly prayer meeting on Sunday afternoons. She sang on the worship team, was in charge of the greeters for the conferences, volunteered for every dinner that was held and even volunteered to assist in the remodeling of the newly renovated church facility. Fran truly believed, “And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men.” (Colossians 3:23) Fran was loved by her neighbors and especially by the neighborhood kids, whom she seemed to be planning neighborhood activities for all the time. She got injured a time or two while playing games outdoors with the kids, but she did not care. She loved them. Fran was also asked to start a Bible Study by some of the ladies in her neighborhood. Frances Ann Powers, of Broken Arrow, passed from this life, into her eternal reward on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at the age of 71. Her Survivors include: 3 Brothers: David Nettleton III of Alaska, Robert Nettleton of New York, Will Nettleton of North Carolina and 1 Sister: Mary J Witman of New York. Fran is predeceased by: Her Parents: David and Anna Nettleton, 1 Brother: Ralph Nettleton and 1 Sister: Ethel Kutler. A memorial service honoring the life of Frances Ann Powers will be held at Sunday Sessions Church on August 10, 2021 at 10:30 am. The church facility is located at 6808 South Memorial Drive, Suite 110, Tulsa, OK. 74133. Memorial Service to be held in New York at a future date.
