Deylois Gilbert

Deylois Jean Bivings was born on September 8, 1939 in Idabel, Oklahoma, the daughter of John Bivings and Marie Rush Bivings. She was one of nine children. Deylois met the love of her life, Kenneth Gilbert and they married in Hugo, Oklahoma on March 17, 1956. Together they had three children, Kenneth Ray, Joyce Marie, and Becky Jo. She loved her family. She especially loved fishing and spending time with Kenneth and helping out in any way she could. Unfortunately, Kenneth passed away when she was only 46 years old and had been missed every single day since. She had many names: Mom, Mother, Grammy, Lois, and Red. She also wore many hats: gardener, fastidious cleaner, prolific vegetable canner, homesteader, and beloved Walmart Ladies wear Department manager. She enjoyed socializing with her dear friends, playing Bunco and participating in activities at Arrow Heights Baptist Church, which was her church for over 55 years. When her children were in school, she attended almost all of Ray’s wrestling matches, and attended football games to hear her daughters play their respective instruments. She also frequented Music in the Park in Central Park. Orange juice with extra pulp, a piping hot cup of black coffee, and a small bowl of dry cereal is the way she awoke every single morning. She never left the house without her face on and her hair was always pristine. Her wit was sharp, her smile was warm, and her pies always had mile-high meringue. She will be missed by those who knew her and her coconut cream pies. Deylois is survived by: Son: Kenneth Ray Gilbert of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma Daughters: Joyce McMaster and husband Steven of Edmond, Oklahoma Becky Jo Gilstrap of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma Grandchildren: Kenna McMaster and husband Nathan, Spencer McMaster, Nikki Stauffer and husband Chris, Logan Gilstrap Sisters: JoAnn Smith, Sandy Willy Brothers: James Bivings, Robert Bivings, and Roger Bivings She was preceded in death by: Parents: John and Marie Bivings Husband: Kenneth Gilbert Sisters: Dorothy Woodrum, Carolyn Williamson, and Betty Jo Bivings
