Constance "Connie" Smedley

Constance Smedley was born on June 29, 1937 in Dodge City, Kansas. She was the daughter of Gordon Dean Van Blaricum DDS and Elsie Roberts Van Blaricum of Minneola, Kansas. She passed away on March 7, 2024 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was 86 years old. Connie graduated high school from Saint Mary of the Plains in Dodge City, Kansas. She further pursued her education and graduated with a degree from Wichita State University in Wichita, Kansas. She worked as an early education teacher in her early years. After relocating to the Tulsa area, she worked in the newspaper and radio advertising industry. She eventually retired from the Tulsa World Newspaper. Connie was very involved with her community and church by helping in the kitchen with dinners, special events and going on missions trips. She adored singing in the choir and being part of special holidays. She was also fond of traveling. She enjoyed trips to Europe, Alaska, and especially to her family cabin in Colorado. Sewing, quilting and working in her garden, especially tending to her tomatoes were some of her favorite hobbies. Connie’s biggest treasures were her family and friends. She enjoyed her yearly trips with her kids and spending time with those that meant the most to her. Also, she was known for loving pretty things and always made sure that her outfits and jewelry matched. She will be missed by so many, but especially her family who loved her dearly. Connie is preceded in death by: Parents Gordon Dean Van Blaricum DDS, and Elsie Roberts Van Blaricum, Husband Ray Smedley and brother Johnny Van Blaricum DDS. Connie is survived by her Children: Susan Avis of Broken Arrow, Darcy Ashton and Greg of Oklahoma City, Nancy Nickel and Chris of Broken Arrow, Steve Henrichs and LaVonda of Broken Arrow. Grandchildren: Alicia Warma, Alysson Lancaster, Andrea Oktay, Clarissa Sullivan, Christopher Ashton, Amberlyn Neuendorf, Stanley Neuendorf, Johnathan Henrichs, Mel Henrichs, Joey Henrichs, Braylee Venable. Great Grandchildren: Mallory, Morgan, Nolan, Brylee, Zaden, Lilly, Taylen, Addilyn, Josslyn, Madison, Bailey, Logan, Oliver Dean.
