Cathy Vincent

Cathryn Louise Knoblock Vincent, went home to her beloved Lord and Savior on June 4, 2025. She was born in Chicago, Illinois to Frank Brian, Sr. and Louise Lillian (Moses) Knoblock. She married Walter Warren Vincent on August 15, 1992. He preceeded her in death on May 19, 2013. She is survived by: Step daughter: Shelly Hoppe (Walter) of Cocoa, Florida. Five grandsons: John Guseman and Katie. Jimmy Guseman, Joey Guseman, Gus Vincent, A.J. Vincent Great grandchildren: Jaycee Guseman, Sunny Guseman, Lexie Vincent, Cayden Vincent, Dylan Vincent. Step grandchild: Jack She is also survived by very dear nieces; Susan Keech (Kelly) of Coweta, Oklahoma. Vickie Guerra (Luciano) of Mission, Texas, Beth Ann Kinton (Keith) of Aurora, Illinois, Jennifer Knoblock of Rockford, Illinois and Cindy Knoblock of Crown Point, Indiana. Very close special friends also survive her, Jamsie Hurt, Chuck Nash of Jacksonville, Illinois and Marion Dramin from the Villages in Florida. A very close cousin Chary Peterson (Tom) from Florida. Preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, Oldest brother, Dr. Frank B. Knoblock Jr. , David Knoblock, two sister-in-laws, Mary Knoblock, Britt Marie Knoblock. She attended public school and special education classes in her early education in Lisle, Illinois. She completed high school at the Illinois School for the Deaf. She attained her BA degree at Gallaudet University in Washington DC. She secured an MSW Degree at the University of Illinois Chicago Circle and later secured 30 post graduate hours. Cathryn’s professional career entailed brief stints at the Wheaten County Connaissance Home in Wheaton, Illinois and at the Northville Psychiatric Hospital in Northville, Michigan. The majority of her career was at the Illinois School for the Deaf where she worked her way up the ranks from social work trainee to School Administrator. Her first love was working with deaf children and their families. Cathryn held the distinction of being the very first woman president of the Illinois Association of the Deaf. This position was used to be politically active to work with the state legislature to pass several laws to improve the lives and rights of deaf and hard of hearing people. She testified many times before the house, senate and joint sessions as well as working alongside with legislators. She served 1 ½ terms until her mother’s health issues needed her full attention. Cathryn and Warren cherished their church family at Liter Baptist Church in Literberry, Illinois. Always looked forward to worshiping and participating in activities. Cathryn also cherished her church family at Arrow Heights Baptist church in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and volunteered whenever possible. She treasured the preaching of the Gospel at both churches. Donations may be sent to Liter Baptist church as requested for the new sanctuary fund. Arrow Heights donations may be sent and designated for their missions fund and to get the gospel of Jesus Christ out there.
