Betty Stevenson

Services honoring the life of Betty Lou Stevenson will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at Memorial Baptist Church, Tulsa, OK. A private burial will be at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit the funeral home on Monday, May 28, 2018 from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with family there to receive visitors from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Betty was born on Wednesday, April 18, 1928 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to John Wesley and Bernice (Dunn) Peterson. Betty passed away on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at the age of 90. Betty graduated from Broken Arrow High School with the class of 1945. She was married to her high school sweetheart, James Thomas Stevenson, for 69 years, until his passing. Their union was blessed with two sons and a daughter. Betty was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She adored her family and was always very involved with their lives. Betty worked for several credit unions before joining her husband James in the family business. They worked side by side, at Yale Cleaners, with Betty managing the office. Betty was a great cook and is fondly remembered for her homemade toffee. She also loved her church family at Memorial Baptist where she was a member since 1959. Through the years she sang in the sanctuary choir, taught children’s choir and played piano for pacemaker choir for over 20 years. Betty was very close with a special group of her Broken Arrow high school friends. They met every other week for lunch and bridge for over 50 years. She loved to help others and belonged to several civic organizations. In her spare time she also loved to knit or fish. Memorials may be made to: Memorial Baptist Church, 2800 S. Betty is survived by, Daughter, Judy Rothrock and husband Bill, Tulsa, OK Son, Jim Stevenson and wife Sandi, Bixby, OK Grandchildren, Bill and Andrea, Ali and Eric, Curtis and Leslie, Carri and Sebastien, Traci and Corey, Jim and Amy, Kathryn, Jay and Bethany, John and Julie Great Grandchildren, Curt, Avery, Natalie, Garrison, Jacob, Luke, Elizabeth, Megan, J.T., Isabel, Paul, Abigail, Noah, Lillah, Vincent, Alexis, Thomas, Kyndel, Brecken, Tatum, Sawyer, McKenna, Harper, Finley, Shephard, Rowyn, Eden, Weber, Miles, and Warren Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband James, son Robert, brothers John, Robert and Charles.
