Barry Fleming

We are beyond sad to announce the passing of our beloved Barry. He died on Sunday, March 5, 2023 at St John Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma surrounded by loved ones after a battle with cancer. He was 69 years old. Barry was born to Wallace and Jeanette Fleming on September 22nd, 1953 in Melrose Park, Illinois. After graduating from Walther Lutheran High School, he received a Bachelor’s degree in accounting from Illinois State University where he met his wife Corrie. They married in 1978. He was a Certified Public Accountant for Standard Oil, BP Amoco, and IBM for 41 years. Barry was an avid fisherman who especially loved his trips to Canada. He was Grill Master Extraordinaire and a financial wizard. In the summer, the coolest place to be was with Grandpa in the pool/spa. He was a passionate OU fan, and die-hard Chicago Bears devotee no matter how badly they played. A season ticket holder, he closely followed Sooners softball more than he would admit. He counted down the days until our annual vacations to Isla. Barry held many titles in his life, but his most accomplished roles were father and husband. Some favorite times included Florida family road trips, bowling leagues with Corrie, fishing Sundays at the grandparents, Christmas Eve traditions, driver’s ed training sessions with the kids, family movie and game nights, and of course coaching and attending the myriad of sporting events of his 3 children, ranging from baseball to tennis and soccer to wrestling. As the years passed, he never forgot these memories and would fondly share them with startling accuracy and comedic delivery, but only if prompted, and always with a dad joke or two. He will be deeply missed by all.
