    June Rose

    November 8, 1937 - January 4, 2021

Elva “June” Rose was born in Okemah, Oklahoma on Monday, November 8, 1937, the 2nd oldest of five children to Dewey and Dora (McConnell) Green. She passed from this life to her heavenly home on Monday, January 4, 2021 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. June grew up in Okemah, raised by a stay-at-home mom and a dad who worked for the Oklahoma Highway Department. She graduated from Okemah High School in 1955. During her sophomore year she was out with some girlfriends on a Friday night when a dashing young man named Roger caught her eye. He and some buddies were “dragging” Main Street. She and Roger dated for over two years before marrying on October 16, 1955 in Okemah. They moved to Tulsa for him to begin a new job. June attended Beauty College and worked as a hair stylist for over forty years while raising two wonderful children. She was very talented and creative, enjoying painting, arts and crafts, ceramics, and singing in the church choir. June was always very stylish and “dressed to the 9’s” as her children put it! A very gracious lady, she loved to help anyone in need. As a family, she and Roger made sure to instill the love of travel in both of their children. While growing up, they visited all 50 states. She and Roger traveled to over 13 different countries but Hawaii was there favorite destination, visiting there a dozen times through the years. A great cook, her family remembers her chocolate/peanut butter truffle, pumpkin roll, and rhubarb pie, as well as her chicken and noodles, all made from scratch. She collected dolls, tea cups, carousel horses and Beanie Babies. She and Roger were long time members of Elks Lodge #946 in Tulsa as well as the Garnett Road Baptist Church in Tulsa. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to: Saint Francis Hospice 6600 S.
