    Jeanette Redman

    September 27, 1931 - February 5, 2022

Gwendolyn “Jeanette” (Kauffman) Redman was born in Owasso, Oklahoma on Sunday, September 27, 1931, to Russell and Inez (Augenstein) Kauffman. She passed from this life to her eternal home in heaven on Saturday, February 5, 2022, in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 90. Jeanette was the youngest of four children born to the Kauffmans’. Her father worked at Crews Lumber in Tulsa as well as farmed and raised livestock. Her mother worker at Froug’s Department Store in Tulsa. The family moved around some as the children were growing up but spent most of their time around Turley and Vera. She attended school there but married before she graduated from high school. She was nominated to be “Miss Vera” but when her mother found out that she would have to wear a swimsuit, she had to drop out of the competition. After raising her three children, Jeanette received her GED at the age of 50, and then went on to Oklahoma State University where she received her bachelors, masters, and doctorate degrees. Jeanette made only one “B” on a report card in all her years of schooling, which really bothered her. She started a program at Tulsa Community College where she taught Medical Terminology and Transcriptions for over 20 years. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and was known as “Grandma Pig” after she started collecting glass pigs. That became the gift her family would give her for many years. She loved her family dearly and wanted them to be happy. She took the entire family on three different cruises. Her favorite thing to do on a cruise was make as many friends as possible and hear their stories and tell her own. She was the family photographer and made each family member a scrapbook. Jeanette served as president of the A.M.A. and was an active member of the Broken Arrow Nazarene Church. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Left to cherish her memory are her son, Ron Girkin (Debbie) of Tulsa Daughter, Vivian Brown (James) of Broken Arrow Son, Don Girkin (Melynda) of Broken Arrow 9 Grandchildren, 16 Great Grandchildren, and 2 Great-Great Grandchildren
