Gary Trosper

Gary Lee Trosper, 68, of Broken Arrow passed away in true Jedi fashion on Thursday, May 4 at his home. He was born in Dumas, Texas on Sunday, February 13, 1955 to Oscar and Frances (Mitchell) Trosper. He was preceded in death by both parents, step-father T.C. Robins, and a sister Cheryl Gibbons. Gary was one of the last “Cactus Rats” in Dumas, Texas where he and his friends spent all of their free time at the gym. He was a standout center at Dumas High School and continued his career as a long snapper at West Texas State University. He served multiple congregations throughout Texas as associate pastor, youth minister, and worship leader. His faith also allowed him the opportunity to lead his father in law to Christ while he was dying of cancer. After his time in ministry he took a job with Consolidated Freightways, eventually moving into management. This final career move brought he and his family to Oklahoma and ultimately Broken Arrow. He was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and was eager to share his fandom with everyone he knew. After his diagnosis, he became an advocate for ALS research. He was passionate about Star Wars, trout fishing, golfing, and staying fit and passed that passion on to his children. He enjoyed spending time with his family and tried to never miss any of his kids and grandkids events. Gary was a friend to everyone he met will be truly missed by all who knew him. A service honoring his life will be held 2pm, Friday, May 12 at Hayhurst Funeral Home Chapel. Gary requested that everyone in attendance either wear Dallas Cowboys apparel or Cowboys blue and silver.
