    Frances Gillin

    October 22, 1933 - December 14, 2021

Frances Lavonne Satterfield Gillin was born October 22, 1933 in Porter, Oklahoma, to William Noble and Zola Wynn (Harp) Satterfield. She passed away December 14, 2021 surrounded by her children. Frances grew up on the family farm along with her older sister Helen and younger sisters Yvonne and Elaine. They all worked together on outside chores, but she much preferred cooking, cleaning, and taking care of her baby sister. Frances attended Porter schools and graduated in 1951 as her class valedictorian. She began work for a national insurance company at the age of 17 and then joined Sanders and McElroy, attorneys at law, in May 1954 in downtown Tulsa as a legal secretary. After 67 years of working for a Sanders, Frances retired in January 2021. Her work ethic, sense of loyalty, and devotion to family and God were shaped by her parents and her grandmother. Frances was a devoted mother to Becky, Lori, and Greg. She lived most of her years in Broken Arrow but always considered the family farm to be her home. She was a member of the Broken Arrow Church of Christ and taught Sunday school for 20 years. Frances enjoyed playing cards, cooking, welcoming people into her home, and offering help to anyone who needed her. Her grandchildren lived next door to her, and she frequently said she couldn’t imagine her life being any better because all of her family was so close. Some of her greatest joys came when the whole family would attend church together. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Helen Newberry, niece Jami Morgan Lessley, nephew Rick Newberry, and niece Andrea Linzy Parnell. She is survived by daughters Becky Gillin and Lori Gillin, son Greg Gillin and daughter-in-law Melissa Gillin, granddaughter Emily Gillin and fiancé Ryan Vidal, granddaughter Anna Gillin, and grandson Kaiden Gillin, all of Broken Arrow; sister Yvonne Morgan of Broken Arrow; and sister Elaine Linzy and brother-in-law Frank Linzy of Coweta. She also is survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and special friends of her children who became family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Broken Arrow Church of Christ with the memo line specifying either the Trail Life Troop OK-0930 or Burnt Cabin Christian Camp.
