Berta Bass

Berta Mae Bass was born the daughter of William Henry Douthit and Ruth Mearle (Reeder) Douthit on February 22, 1926 in Holland, Texas. She was the third of seven cherished children and had a wonderful family. Her father was a barber, and her mother was a loving homemaker. Berta passed away and went on to be with the Lord on February 8, 2022. Berta graduated from high school in Siloam Springs, Arkansas in 1944. After graduation, she moved to Washington D.C and went on to work for the FBI during World War II. After completing a year of FBI duties, she moved back to Arkansas and married the love of her life, Nigel “Morris” Bass. They had a son, Leslie Dale Bass, who was a Navy veteran and proceeded her in death. She and Morris were married until his passing in 1993. Berta worked for Rhema Bible church and was Hagin’s transcriber for over 40 years. She enjoyed watching television, playing computer games and working in her yard. She even mowed her own large one acre property until she was 92 years old. Berta was strong willed, small but mighty. Left to continue to love her life and memory are: Brother, Russell Douthit and wife, Brenda of Oklahoma City. Four grandchildren, Zachary Bass Douglas of Austin, Texas, Benjamin Bass Douglas and wife, Laura, of Austin, Texas, Branden Bass of Tulsa and Brittney Bass of Tulsa. Three great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was proceeded in death by her parents, William and Ruth Douthit, son, Leslie Dale Bass, brothers, George Douthit, Glen Douthit, James Douthit and sisters, Juanita Miller and Billie Jean Keesee.
