July 9, 1923 - December 14, 2020
Alleyene B McNally went home to be with her Lord and Savior at 7:40 pm, December 14, 2020. Affectionately nicknamed Alley, by her friends, was born July 9,1923, in the family home on 2nd St., in Wewoka , Oklahoma to parents, Wewoka John Long(deceased) and Ola Edna (House) Long, (deceased) Maybe being an only child contributed to her life pursuit of "being in charge" in life.. As a child of the depression era Alleyene enjoyed the best of life's offerings as she excelled at learning dance, ballet, ballroom and especially tap, which was so popular at that time. Occupied by music and piano lessons, she traveled the great expanses of America with her parents, primarily her mother, Ola. In1932, at the age of 9, she danced for one of the famous Indian Chiefs, Osceola, of the Seminole Nation , on the Seminole reservation in the Florida everglades. The next year at an inauguration gala held for newly elected President Franklin D. Roosevelt, she was invited to entertain the guests with her dancing, and was introduced as "The little Indian Princess from Oklahoma." (We have memories hearing the melodious sounds of the tap tap tap tapping coming from the kitchen as Mom worked at preparing dinner!) Alley, MomMc to family, just mom when she was the only Mom around, was so full of life and adventure, and she was never more in her element than when she took center stage of a group, or a conversation or a gathering. She was happiest sharing her memories of her family. She was so very proud of each and every one of us. She lived the last years of her life in the retirement community for independent living seniors, The Springs of Escondido. She could be counted on to entertain her lunch and dinner companions with her pride in her children, their children and so on. Married to Charles Joseph McNally Sr. in 1940, they started their family in Wewoka ,OK with the birth of their son Charles Joseph McNally, Jr. in 1941. Son L. P. (Pat) McNally in 1943 and daughter Pamela Tempeh McNally Jiles, 1949. ( predeceased in 2015). Mom was very involved while raising her kids in Midwest City, OK. President of the PTA multiple times, even served as President of the PTA at two different Jr. Highs at the same time when they opened a new one across town. Den Mother , Sunday School teacher, she was into it all for her kids. Joining the workforce as a career lady, she worked full time for Oklahoma Gas and Electric Company in Oklahoma City, before retiring in the mid 80's after 27 years. After retirement, she and Pop McNally moved to Broken Arrow ,OK to be close to daughter Pam , her husband Art and their kids as they grew up. Mom's last years were like her life. She was active, on the go. Vivacious, full of spunk and spark and always full of surprises. She called it "being in charge!" When your door bell would ring during dinner no matter where you lived in the world, it wasn't surprising to find Mom and Pop standing there suitcases in hand saying SUPRISE!!!
