Steven Anderson

Steven Carl Anderson was born in Aurora, Missouri, on January 20, 1971. Steven graduated from high school in Marionville, Missouri. He also graduated with degrees from the Spartan School of Aeronautics and Heartland Baptist Bible College. He was raised in a Christian home by parents who taught him the Bible, a love of God, and a passion for serving the Lord. His parents, Gladys Evelyn (Holmberg) Anderson and Harry Walter Anderson, wrote Big and Bright Bible Stories and were instrumental in his love of teaching boys and girls about Jesus. One of my favorite thoughts about his teaching was when he would finish telling a Bible story, he would say to the children “ and that’s the same God we serve today.” He excitedly awaited each summer for Vacation Bible School to help the boys' side win the penny march. (He was a friend to the girls too, and I so much appreciate all of those younger and older girls who said they were praying for Steven while he was in the hospital). It was a great competition and brought much joy to generously give to help the missionaries our church was supporting that week at VBS. Steven was severely electrocuted while doing tree work April 18 . He miraculously survived almost 8 weeks in the burn unit at Hillcrest Medical Center with diligent nurses who tirelessly tried to save his life. We were blessed to have him those extra weeks after the accident, and God was so good to let him keep his mind. He could not speak (because of a trachea ), but he would nod, smile, laugh at a remembered story , mouth important words like "I love you” and enjoyed hymns and good music.” Steven entered Heaven on June 15, 2026. He was surrounded by friends and family who sang and prayed with him. Before entering Heaven, he smiled the biggest “Anderson smile” and even gave us a wink that was so truly himself. His burdens were lighter, and he was ready to see Jesus. Steven loved people. It has been said by close friends that “he made strangers become friends.” “He was the same man to a wealthy or intelligent man as he was to a poor uneducated man.” He was outspoken (which got him in trouble at times), but that also made him bold enough to share Jesus without reservation. Steven has always had a love for plants . He built his first greenhouse with his dad and quickly filled it with cactus. He was lovingly referred to as the Cactus Kid. In 2020 he built his dream 2 story greenhouse . It is beautiful and Steven spent many hours enjoying and sharing plants with friends and loved ones. Steven is survived by : his wife Michelle Anderson of 19 years, and their three children Zacharia, Gideon and Caleb Anderson . He is also survived by his brother Alan and his wife Kim Anderson, and his sisters Christy and her husband Bob Arthur, and Crystal Harter. He has several nieces and nephews. He loved his family mightily and his children were counted a gift from the Lord. We are thankful for our church, family, and friends who have surrounded us during this journey.
