Rodney O Smith

Rod was the middle child of 3 born to Morris Orin “M.O.” and Julia Helen (Wymer) Smith on Saturday, June 11, 1942, in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. At the age of 79, he passed this life and entered the presence of “J & J” (Jesus & Jackie), on Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at his home in Tulsa. He graduated high school in 1960 and went on to receive a bachelor’s degree in Business from Hamline University in St. Paul Minnesota. Rod was married to the former Miss Jacqueline Wheeler on June 1, 1963, in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. He was a self-employed Commercial Real Estate Broker with Rod Smith Company. Rod’s greatest joy was spending time with his family. He also enjoyed golf, traveling and spending time with Jackie at their Florida home. So loved by his family, Rod lived fully and loved whole-heartedly. He had a wonderful and very blessed life. Thank you to all who made it so. Praise Jesus! Dad is in Heaven with mom, his soulmate, as well as his family and friends…waiting for all of us to spend eternity with them. Rod is survived by his 3 children, Clay Smith, Sheila Smith-Burk and Kurt Smith. He is also survived by his older sister, Marilyn, younger brother, Bert, 8 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and an extended family of relations and friends from every walk of life. Rod was preceded in death by his parents, M.O. and Helen, and his wife, Jackie. In his lifetime, Rod, along with Jackie, led countless people to the Lord. Together, that was their mission. Rod will always be known as a follower of Christ, a devoted husband, a wonderful father & grandfather, a great coach, a smart businessman and entrepreneur, and last, but not least - the one person who would throw his golf game on the 18th hole just so he didn’t have to buy lunch!
