Richard "Dick" H. Wise Sr.

Dick Wise, 91, of Broken Arrow, passed away Sunday, June 10, 2018. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held Thursday, June 14th, 2018 at First United Methodist Church in Broken Arrow. Friends and family may visit the funeral home Wednesday, June 13th from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm; and the family will be receiving visitors from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Dick was born Saturday, February 12, 1927 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to the late Chester and Pearl (Foley) Wise. Dick married the love of his life, Marie Henson on November 26, 1952 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Together they had three daughters, Barbara, Sharon, and Karen; one son Richard Jr; 12 Grandchildren 19 Great Grandchildren, and 6 Great Great Grandchildren. Dick was very involved with the First United Methodist Church of Broken Arrow. He served as the Sunday School teacher for grades 9-12 for 4 years as well as President of the Mr. & Mrs. Sunday School Class for 1 year. Some of the committees he served on and titles he held were as Financial Secretary for 2 years, Staff-Parish Relations Committee Chairman, Administrative Board Chairman, Business Administrator, Building Committee Member, Owner Representative with the General Contractor during construction of the Activity Building, as well as Offering teller and Worship Service Usher when needed. Outside of his church he served as a Precinct Official with the Tulsa County Election Board, Airport Ambassador with the Tulsa International Airport, Agency Monitor with the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma, Assistant Cub Master and Neighborhood Commissioner/Assistant District Commissioner with the Boy Scouts of America, as well as serving faithfully for four years with the Broken Arrow High School’s “Pride of Broken Arrow” Band Parents Organization; one of which was served as Co-President. Survivors include: Daughters Barbara Cleveland (Neil)- Buford, Georgia Karen Williams (Bob) Broken Arrow, Oklahoma Sharon Fitzjerrells (Bob) Pekin, Illinois Son Richard H. Wise Jr (Susan) Grand Junction, Colorado He is predeceased by: Parents Chester and Pearl Wise Wife Marie Wise Sisters Beatrice Wright Edna Wise Brother Elmer Wise Memorials may be made in lieu of flowers to the First United Methodist Church of Broken Arrow Endowment Fund; 112 East College Street, Broken Arrow, OK 74012. Dick cherished his Prairie House Assisted Living and Griswold Home Care "families of care giving angels". The loving care given to him was exceptional. The new relationships he developed this final year of his already enriched life made it even more meaningful.
