Raymond Labit

Raymond Joseph Labit was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on Tuesday, April 23, 1941 to Joseph Raymond and Lucille (Smith) Labit. He passed away in Tulsa, Oklahoma on Monday, January 19, 2026 at the age of 84. He touched the lives of so many people and will surely be missed. Raymond grew up in Louisiana and Oklahoma and had four siblings. He was a 1959 graduate of Mead High School. Raymond took some college classes then took a job teaching electronics in Denver, Colorado. It was there that he met and fell in love with Janet Louise Baker who would before long become his bride. The former Miss Baker caught the attention of this young man, Raymond early on. After a time of getting to know each other well, they decided to build their life together. They were married in North Platte, Nebraska on Sunday, December 23, 1962 and then promptly moved to Tulsa. There they were blessed with four children, and his family continues to multiply down to the great-grandchildren. Raymond was a family man, he loved nothing more than spending time with his wife and children, but his love for Janet’s cookies were a close second, and a cold RC cola with a Moon Pie were pretty high up there on his list too. Raymond had the personality for sales and a knack for electronics which gave him a successful career in Electronic Sales. He retired from Carlton Bates Company in Tulsa in 2002. Raymond liked people and loved talking with them. He had a soothing voice and a quick wit that made him very pleasant and comfortable to be around. He had an awesome sense of humor always with a joke on the ready. Hunting with his brothers every year was always a time he looked forward to. Raymond was a true “outdoors-man”. He thrived in the elements, going camping and fishing whenever he could – he preferred to be outside. He also belonged to the Tulsa Four-Wheelers club. He liked the challenge of driving rough terrain and through the woods in his Jeep. When outdoor activities were not possible, he loved sitting down with a bowl of popcorn and reading a good book! Raymond lived a full and active life.
