Mary Sue Speer

Mary Sue (Martin) Speer was born on Sunday, July 6, 1941 in Pumpkin Center, near Fort Gibson, Oklahoma, the daughter of Paul and May (Hornback) Martin. She passed from this life on Friday, October 18, 2024 at Clarehouse in Tulsa. She was 83 years of age. Mary Sue attended Fort Gibson schools. She was first married to Kenneth Lively for about 36 years, and shared 4 children. He died on May 26, 2004. She married Jerry Speer on April 18, 1998. They enjoyed traveling and family time throughout their marriage. He preceded her in death on April 15, 2003. Mary Sue worked in many jobs throughout her life, with Ford Glass Plant in Tulsa being her last before retirement. Mary Sue enjoyed gardening, flowers, bowling, basketball, football, fishing and cooking. She was a volunteer with Southern Baptist Disaster Teams where she spent 2 months in New Orleans for the Katrina disaster and multiple other areas as needed. She was a volunteer in different roles with Arrow Heights Baptist Church. She had a love for helping others, a true servant's heart. Mary Sue never met a stranger and made several trips with friends and family in many states and around the world. One of her most memorable trips was to Israel where she was baptized in the Jordan River. She was always ready to go and always enjoyed driving her sisters on trips to Branson as well as other destinations. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She cherished attending their sporting events along with any other activity they were involved in. Mary Sue accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior in her late twenties and served Him faithfully throughout her life.
