Louis D. Brankel

Services honoring Louis Dean Brankel will be at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at First Baptist Church, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Louis was born in Mooreland, Oklahoma on June 6, 1950, to Joseph and Viola (Griffin) Brankel. Louis passed peacefully at home on July 31, 2019 at the age of 69. Louis graduated from Central State University and had a long and successful career in industrial equipment sales until he retired in 2009. In recent years, he started an independent delivery service in the Broken Arrow area. Louis grew up on western Oklahoma farmland and loved the open flat lands of that part of the state. In those early years he developed a heart for service and loved helping others. He carried that all through his adult life. His love for helping people led him on many mission trips to Mexico and other areas with FBCBA, where he also served faithfully with the Oklahoma Baptist Disaster Relief through First Baptist Church of Broken Arrow. He also held a special place in his heart for the work that Arms Around Broken Arrow provides to this community. Louis’ love of helping others kept him very busy, but in his free time he enjoyed golfing, traveling, riding four wheelers in Red River, New Mexico, and sports of any kind; most of all OU football. Without question, the overflowing joy in his life was the eight wonderful grandsons he was blessed with. Nothing brought more happiness and joy to his heart than to be with them and watch them participate in sports and other activities. Louis, you are loved and missed more than words on a piece of paper can express. Louis will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Yetta Brankel and his children, Ricki Hougland and husband Jason of Claremore, OK, Leslie Pendleton and husband Brandon of Mounds, OK, Alecia Dempster and husband Jeffrey of Sand Springs, OK, and Catherine Heenan of Tulsa, OK. Louis will also be fondly remembered by his eight grandchildren, Clayton Heenan, Blake Hougland, Jacob Heenan, DJ Pendleton, Garrett Hougland, Dakota Hougland, Steven Pendleton, and Timothy Pendleton. Louis will be missed by his siblings, Gary Brankel, Norman Brankel and wife Karen, Carol Adcock and husband Ralph and a host of nieces and nephews, personal friends and his cherished extended family in Christ at FBCBA. He was preceded in death by his parents.
