Kirby E. Sturgeon

Kirby Eugene Sturgeon was born on Saturday, November 5, 1932, in Coweta, Oklahoma, the son of Grover Cleveland and Eliza Jane (Layal) Sturgeon, Sr. He passed this life on Friday, November 29, 2024, at his home in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. He was 92 years of age. Kirby was a 1950 graduate of Broken Arrow High School. He married Nita J. Wood on October 15, 1953, in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Nita preceded him in death on February 8, 2022. Kirby was a veteran of the United States Navy serving from 1951-1955. He moved his family to Broken Arrow in 1962. Kirby was employed as a welder for R.D.S. Manufacturing, now Solar-Turbin Manufacturing. Kirby enjoyed fishing, coaching his son's baseball team, the Oklahoma Sooner and the Dallas Cowboys. He enjoyed gardening and taking care of his yard. His greatest joy came from Sunday family dinners and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. He was a past member of Northside Christian, most recently had been attended Ridge Christian in Coweta. He is survived by, Daughters, Stephanie Stenhouse, Broken Arrow, OK Janet and husband Greg Green, Broken Arrow, OK Sherri and husband Steve Valder, Broken Arrow, OK Sons, Kevin Sturgeon, Broken Arrow, OK Brad and wife Sheri Sturgeon, Broken Arrow, OK Grandchildren, Melinda, Michael and Michelle, Bret, Matt and Tracey, Amanda and Cory, Amy and Ben, Kayla, Michael, Ryan and Julie, Rachel and Nathaniel, Sarra and Matt, Maci, Nolan and Addison. Great Grandchildren, A.J., Ethan and Cassie, Christian and Anthony, Maegan, Todd and Megan, Kristopher, Ashley, MaKynna, Jordyn, Westyn, Wiley, Brantley, Blakely, Wyatt, Jackson, Cody, Ellie, Hunter, Kyndal, Khloe, Hudson.
