Karen Niles-Blayer

Karen Marie Niles (Blayer), age 60, of Broken Arrow, OK went to be with our Heavenly Father on Monday, September 7, 2015 after her strong and courageous battle with cancer. She passed peacefully, held in the arms of her loving family. Karen was born to Walter and Anna Rose Blayer in Marshalltown, Iowa in 1955. She graduated from Tama High School, Class of 1973 and went on to receive her Bachelors in Business Administration from the University of Northern Iowa in 1977. She moved to Oklahoma in the summer of 1985 where she has been active in her community as a long-time member of St. Benedict’s Catholic Church, Board Member for the Broken Arrow Youth Football Association (26 years), and Human Resources Manager at Aaon for the last ten years. Though her career was truly her life’s passion, Karen also loved to spend time shopping, gardening, baking, going to the beach, reading, and above all, spending time with her five cherished grandchildren. Karen is preceded in death by father Walter Francis Blayer and brother Stephen Paul Blayer. She is survived by ex-husband and best friend Rocky Niles, daughter Tiffany Davis (David), daughter Lindsay Downing (Jeremy), grandchildren Kennedi, Brya, Berklee, Kinslee, and Austin, Mother Anna Rose Blayer of Tama, Iowa, siblings Jim Blayer (Ruth) of Iowa City, IA, Mary Cantin (Bill) of Enfield, CT, Richard Blayer (Kathy) of Coulter, IA, Robert Blayer (Holly) of Marshalltown, IA, Patty Blayer of Waukee, IA, sister-in-law Sheila Vantrease (Rick), numerous nieces and nephews and a host of family and friends. Rocky, Tiffany and Lindsay wish to thank family and friends for their continued support that has blessed them tremendously through this very difficult journey. Visitation will be held at the Hayhurst Funeral Home on Thursday, September 10 from 10am to 9pm with family to greet from 6pm to 8pm. Funeral services will be held at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in Broken Arrow on Friday, September 11 at 11am followed by a committal service at Calvary Cemetery at 91st and Harvard in Tulsa, Oklahoma. If memorial donation is preferable to sending flowers, please make a donation to Broken Arrow Youth Football Scholarship Fund.
