Joan Eileen Lapham was born on Wednesday April 22, 1931 in Margate Kent, England, the daughter of Leonard and Gertrude (Waters) Barton. She passed this life on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at Beehive Assisted Living in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. She was 90 years of age. The former Miss Joan Barton graduated High School in England and went on to attend Canterbury Girls College in Canterbury, Victoria, England. Joan moved to the United States when she was 25 years of age. She began working in medical field and eventually became a self-employed Medical Transcriptionist. She enjoyed playing the piano and was very proud of her British Heritage. She often spoke of the resiliency she and her community developed during World War II while growing up in southern England.
