Jim Shackelford

A Funeral Service for Jim Shackelford has been scheduled for 1:00 PM, Thursday, June 25, 2020 at First Baptist Church in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Park Grove Cemetery in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Viewing will take place from 11:00 AM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, June 24, with the family greeting friends from 5:00 until 7:00 PM. Jim was born in Paw Paw, Oklahoma on Wednesday, September 16, 1931. He was the son of Burt and Lois (Scott) Shackelford. He died in Tulsa, Oklahoma on Monday, June 22, 2020. He was 88 years of age. Jim was a 1949 graduate of Muldrow High School in Oklahoma. He earned a bachelors degree in Industrial Arts from Northeastern State University. He served in the United States Army. He worked for the Ford Glass Plant as supervisor for many years and also briefly taught school in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Jim married the former Miss Mary Jones in Muldrow, Oklahoma on April 2, 1954. He was an active member of his church, First Baptist in Broken Arrow, and served as a Deacon. Spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren was one of his favorite things to do. He even taught his grandchildren how to swim. He enjoyed being outdoors, whether gardening, hunting, fishing, or camping. He loved woodworking and shining his shoes. Jim is survived by, Wife, Mary Shackelford, Tulsa, Oklahoma Daughters, Peggy Ann Hale and husband Don, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma Cindy Brackeen and husband Don, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma Sons, Rick Shackelford and wife Peggy, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma Scott Shackelford and wife Julie, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma Grandchildren, Jessica and Jason, Ranee and Kris, Rebecca and Nigel, Kyle and Kelsey, Keli and David, Stephanie and Dave, Holli and Marcus, John and Kristy, Matt and Ashley, and Patrick Great Grandchildren Maggie, Jaxon, Emaline, Lennox, Finn, Channing, Paisley, Maverick, Kason, Kolter, Ike, Bruce, Caleb, Selah, Pheobe, Cameron, Hailey, Willow, Summer, Maci Several nieces and nephews He was preceded in death by his parents and nine siblings.
