Jerry Goodman

Jerry Allen Goodman, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning in Tulsa at the age of 88. He was born on March 17, 1937, in Muskogee, Oklahoma, to Earl and Betty (Cockrell) Goodman, Sr. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Earl Jr., Don, and Jimmy. Jerry was a man who truly cherished life’s simple pleasures—spending time outdoors, sharing stories, and making memories with friends and family. Whether he was camping, hiking, fishing, or hunting for treasures at flea markets and yard sales, Jerry brought warmth and laughter everywhere he went. He also had a passion for home improvement and took pride in building and remodeling houses. Jerry and his wife, Naomi, were founding members of the Broken Arrow WarBonnets camping club in 1972, which brought together friends who shared their love of adventure and the outdoors. Jerry retired as a Utility Serviceman from Oklahoma Natural Gas (ONG) after 27 years of dedicated service. In retirement, he and his beloved wife of 68 years, spent many joyful years traveling and camping across the country. They spent their winters in southern TX where they have many lifelong friendships. During that time, they helped found a non-denominational church in their retirement community, growing from 15 members to 250 members. Jerry's kindness, humor, and generous spirit touched many lives. The biggest joy of his life was his family. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered. Jerry is survived by his wife, Naomi Goodman of the home, his son David Goodman of Broken Arrow, OK, his daughter and her husband, Kathy and Gary Heimbach of Broken Arrow. His grandsons and their wives, Gary Jr and Ann Heimbach of Broken Arrow, OK, Grant and Sam Heimbach of Austin, OK; great-grandchildren Lainee Heimbach and her fiance Drake Bolay, Tristan Heimbach, Marley Heimbach and Will Heimbach; sister Shirley Tegarden and her husband Charles of Neosho, MO. Jerry is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 4-6pm, Wednesday, May 7 at Hayhurst Funeral Home. A Service honoring his life will be held 1pm, Thursday, May 8 at First Christian Church, Broken Arrow.
