Glenda Howard

Glenda Howard was born the daughter of Carl Bryan and Daisy Keirsey on December 22, 1944, in Pryor, Oklahoma. She was one of five children. After graduating from Pryor High School, she went to Oklahoma Baptist University where she met and married Robert Maxey Charles on May 30th, 1964. After his graduation, they moved back to Robert's home state of Illinois. They had two daughters, Donna Louise and Phyllis Elaine Charles. At a young age, Robert passed away leaving Glenda with two small girls. They eventually returned home to Oklahoma and resided in Tulsa. She worked for the Tulsa Police Department as a Records Clerk, and upon retirement began her second career as a senior caregiver. She was a natural nurturer and enjoyed the time she spent caring for her clients, some of which considered her a member of their families. She was a member of the International Chapter PEO Sisterhood Chapter CY for 27 years and served as Chapter President from 2000-2003, Oklahoma State Chapter Scholarship Committee Chair, and held most chapter offices throughout her 27 years and was the longest serving Treasurer in recent years. She was very active in life, loved her family, and enjoyed every moment she was able to spend with her kids, grandchildren and great grandchildren, never missing their celebrations and events. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Maxey Charles, parents, Carl Bryan and Daisy Keirsey, and siblings Dorothy Jean Biggs, Tommy Keirsey, Joanne Echols, and Sam Keirsey. She is survived by her daughters, Donna Trowe and Phyllis Loerke and husband Thomas, her grandchildren, Rick Trowe and Bree, Mitchell Trowe and wife Meagan, Nicholas Trowe, Kaylee Potter and husband Travis, Courtney Heroneme and husband Benjamin, and Christopher Loerke and fiance Amy Kliewer, and her great grandchildren, Madison Trowe, Corbin Heroneme, Natalie Potter, Micah Trowe, Mason Potter, and Bentley Heroneme. Glenda graduated to her heavenly home on August 20, 2023. She will be greatly missed by those that were blessed to have known her. In lieu of flowers donations can be given to Chapter CY PEO in Glenda's memory to chapter designated scholarships intended to recognize and encourage academic excellence and achievement by women.
