Earlene Smith

Earlene Wilma Smith was born in Catoosa, Oklahoma on Wednesday, January 28, 1925, to parents, Gene, and Florence (Rush) Logsdon. She went to meet her Lord on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at the age of 101! She touched the lives of so many during that century of a lifetime and will be greatly missed. One of five children, Earlene grew up in Catoosa, Oklahoma where she graduated from high school in 1942. After graduation, she worked in an aircraft factory during the war. She was proud to say she was a Riveter, along with many other women of that time. She became a very astute secretary and worked for the University of Tulsa as well as an oil company. During that career, Earlene met a debonair gentleman by the name of U. J. Smith, Jr. – fondly referred to as “Jay.” After a proper courtship Jay and Earlene were united in Holy Matrimony on Saturday, September 1,1956 in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. They were happily married until his passing in January,1998. There is much to be said about Earlene – she was kind and extremely witty. An incredibly giving person always offering to help others. She thrived on taking care of her family. Earlene was an avid reader. She enjoyed writing poems and funny stories. Her hobbies were golf, square dancing, shopping and being outdoors. She was a marvelous decorator. She enjoyed decorating her home as well as the homes of family members. She loved to learn even in her later years. She read many medical books and was always a point of reference for answers to questions, before Google. This was a life well lived. Earlene loved and served the Lord, Jesus and it showed in the way she lived her life. Her church home was The Assembly at Broken Arrow where she attended regularly whenever possible. She loved her family and friends, her church family, and her animals.
