Dorrie Watson

Doris Marie Mack Watson was born, the daughter of Wilbur Mack and Doris Ayres Mack on August 11, 1940 in Ann Arbor Michigan. She was one of four siblings. She had two brothers, Larry and Jerry and one sister, Shirley. The family settled in Jackson, Michigan. Doris graduated high school from St. Johns High School in 1958. After graduation, she met and married the love of her life, James Watson on March 12, 1960. They had six children together, Phillip, Sarah, Douglas, Ann, Leah and David. Dorrie devoted her life to her children as a mother, and homemaker. Through the years she spent countless hours attending every school performance, concert, athletic event and tournament to clap and cheer from the sidelines. Year round she would shop for Christmas presents for her children and grandchildren, whom she adored. Doris loved the Lord. She became a Christian at age 9 and her life has exemplified that of a Christ follower. During her life, she did many things to serve the Lord, including teaching Sunday school, leading women’s retreats, joining the choir, running a children’s bus ministry and puppet ministry. She became Sunday school superintendent and was honored in that roll of being both a leader and servant. Her heart to serve in any capacity shown throughout her lifetime. Doris’ love for the hurting even included taking unmarried, pregnant women into her own home. She helped guide them through the journey of pregnancy until they gave birth. She counseled troubled people on a Christian hot-line and gave life changing advice which included many women’s Bible studies she taught through the years. She was called and used for Christ’s ministry from early childhood. And now she goes to see Him face-to-face, her Lord and savior, Jesus Christ. She will be missed by so many that she touched throughout the years and remembered forever by those that knew her heart and life.
