Delma Jean Stewart

Delma “Jean” Stewart was born on July 29, 1940 in Oklahoma City, OK. to Robert Lee Flowers and Mauzell (Mullens) Flowers. She passed from this life with loving family by her side in Catoosa, OK. on March 31, 2023. Jean grew up in Oklahoma City and graduated from Southeast High School in 1958. On October 11, 1958, she married her sweetheart, Harold Joseph Stewart. Together, they started a family and built a life full of love for the next 27 years until the untimely passing of Harold in 1985. During their time together, Jean and Harold enjoyed creating a happy home for their children, hosting family and friends, and attending St. James Catholic Church. In addition to caring for her home and children, Jean worked as a medical office administrator. A woman of many talents, interests and an abundance of charisma, Jean enjoyed spending time with her ever-expanding network of friends, listening to music, attending the local theater, dancing, working outdoors, tending to her rose garden, traveling, sewing, painting, yoga, collecting jewelry, and watching old westerns. A true matriarch, Jean found her greatest joy in spending time with her family, especially her granddaughters and great-grandchildren. Her grandchildren will remember their “Gammy” for her beauty, grace, poise, playful nature, imagination, and pure love. To her granddaughters especially, she was magic. They recall fond memories of mud pies on hot summer days, elegant tea parties, Sunday pot roast, perfect sugar cookies, hand-sewn Christmas dresses, and purses that were just right for smuggling candy into movie theaters. In 1998, Jean met a wonderful man, Jim Crockett of Yukon, OK., and for next 23 years, they shared endless laughs, made countless friends, and traveled the world together. Jean was known to light up a room and make all those around feel special. In later years, she attended Life Church in Oklahoma City. She made many friends there whom she cherished. Jean is preceded in death by her parents, Robert Flowers and Mauzell Brockhaus; husband, Harold Stewart; companion, Jim Crockett and son-in-law, Scott Tully. Jean is survived by her children; Debbie McNary and partner Ernie Baum, Robin Tully, Greg Stewart and partner Rick Grimes, grandchildren; Lindsey McConnell and husband Cliff, Lacey Ullrich and husband Brandon, Piper Tully and fiancé Kelsey Mignano, Maggie Logan and husband Landry, Mollie Detamore and husband Aaron, and James Brock Crockett; great-grandchildren, Kennedy, Mia, Atticus, Walker, Rose, Ace, Audrey, Witton, and Libby. Along with so many special family members and friends that brought her immense joy throughout her life. A memorial service will be held at 10am on April 27, 2023 at Life Church in Southwest Oklahoma City, celebration of life to follow. Jean will be laid to rest at Rose Hill Burial Park in Oklahoma City.
