Charlene Green

Charlene Rose Green was born on June 11, 1947, in Las Animas, Colorado, to Del Myer Sr. and Susan Elizabeth Graham. Charlene was raised by her father Ed Foley and her mother Sue Foley. She was absolutely one of a kind. The world will not see another one quite like her. Charlene married Dale Allen Green and they had four amazing children — Darla, Edward, Kimberly, and Jimmy — and together they built a life that grew into fifteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren who all called her Nana. They raised their family in Coweta, Oklahoma where they resided for 43 years. She left this world on Sunday morning, March 22, 2026, in Jenks, Oklahoma, surrounded by the people who loved her most, at 78 years of age. Charlene spent her formative years in Eureka, California, a place she loved for the rest of her life. It was there she grew close to her cousin and best friend, Linda Spencer. They were thick as thieves, and Charlene told many stories about their antics growing up. They stayed close until the very end by writing letters and talking on the phone. They had a rare gift of a lifelong friendship. The story that mattered most started when she was fourteen years old and a young farm hand named Dale Allen Green showed up to work on her aunt and uncle’s dairy farm — the Miller family — and from the moment she met him, something changed. For a girl who had grown up never quite feeling beautiful, never quite feeling like she belonged anywhere, Dale looked at her and saw the most beautiful woman in the world. He told her often and showed her every day of his life. He made her feel safe enough to love and safe enough to be exactly who she was, sharp edges and all. He became family to the Millers before he ever became family by name, and in a way that was always fitting — because he had already become everything to her. Life pulled them apart for a time, the way it sometimes does, but some people find their way back to each other because they were simply meant to. Dale and Charlene were those people. They were married on October 11, 1968, in Miami, Oklahoma, and they never stopped acting like kids in love for the entire wonderful 53 years together. They danced all the time — in the kitchen, anywhere the music played. They traveled to Hawaii often, their favorite place on earth, and dreamed of going everywhere together. Charlene had always wanted to be a nurse. She waited until her kids were in school, then went and made it happen — earning her degree from Tulsa Junior College while running a household and raising a family. She became a Registered Nurse and spent her career at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, floating through departments and learning everything before finding her home on the IV team. She was proud to be a nurse, loved her patients and was extraordinarily good at her job. Charlene was feisty and outspoken, and her matter-of-fact nursing nature could come across as sharp. She sometimes said the wrong thing and didn’t always know it, and she struggled at times to find her place in the world because of it. But those who looked past the rough edges found someone worth knowing — funny, quirky, fiercely loyal, and loving. She had a difficult childhood that left marks on her that never fully healed, and she carried more loneliness than most people realized. Her faith was real and she lived it out loud. She taught Awanas at First Baptist Church in Broken Arrow for years, pouring herself into the children she taught because she genuinely wanted them to know the love of God. She graduated from Central High School in Tulsa, though her heart always belonged to Nathan Hale. Charlene was a gifted artist. She loved to draw — especially people. She had a gorgeous singing voice. She was a talented seamstress who made Halloween costumes, dance costumes, crocheted sweaters, toys, Barbie clothes, and home décor. She loved to make homemade cards and work with her Sunday school kids on craft projects. Charlene loved red and polka dots. There was always a Pepsi within reach. She loved spicy food, Gardetto’s, caramel corn, and Rocky Road ice cream, and her signature scents were Anaïs Anaïs and Maui Rain. She watched The Walking Dead, Virgin River, and The Conners on repeat until her family knew every episode by heart alongside her. Her favorite meal in the world was Dale’s steak or prime rib, charcoaled at home. When Dale passed away in November of 2021, Charlene grieved and wanted to be with him every single day. She shrank without him in a way that was painful to watch, because what she had lost was not just a husband but the person who had made her feel like herself and made her feel like she belonged in every room. After Dale passed, Charlene went to live with her daughter Kimberly and her husband Mike in Jenks. She loved the life that filled that house — the sound of the girls laughing and often fighting, the rhythm of school days and activities, the beautiful, chaotic noise of a family in motion. She had three special young women who helped provide care for her: Imani, who was faithfully by her side for all three and a half years, and Lexi and Blaze, who came at different seasons and loved her just as deeply. The family is grateful beyond words for what these three young women brought to her life. And then there was Gunner — their elderly boxer who became Charlene’s devoted companion and fellow snack enthusiast. They loved each other. Charlene is preceded in death her parents, by her beloved husband Dale Green, and by her siblings Carol Gourlie and Del Myer Jr. She leaves behind four children, fifteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, numerous beloved nieces and nephews, and a best friend who knew her since before she knew herself, and more people who were touched by her than she probably ever believed. She is survived by: Children: Darla Hendricks and Danny of Owasso, Oklahoma; Eddie Green and Misty of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Kimberly Green and Mike Yates of Jenks, Oklahoma; Jimmy Green and Shelby of Tulsa, Oklahoma Grandchildren: Amanda, Anna, Bryce, Ariel, Austin, Trystin, Noah, Gabby, Isabella, Emma, Sofia, Ember, Gungnir, Elijah, and Isaac Great-Grandchildren: Braden, Brooklyn, Blaine, Ryan, Haley, Kylie, Georgia Mae, Brantley, Zelda, Ivar, Adrian, Luca, Liam, Taylor, Hannah, Landon, Adeleigh, and Casen Cherished lifelong friend: Linda Spencer Beloved caregivers: Imani, Lexi, and Blaze
