Bonnie Churchill

Bonnie Jean Churchill was born to Theodore and Leona DeLaMatter on October 30, 1941, in Zion, IL. She passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on January 24, 2026, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 84. Bonnie was a blessing to everyone she met and will be dearly missed by all whose lives she touched. As the eldest of five children, Bonnie grew up surrounded by love and laughter. She graduated from Mary D. Bradford High School in Kenosha WI and went on to attend Bible School at Lakeshore Tabernacle in Kenosha, WI where her lifelong faith and love for Jesus was strengthened. During her youth, Bonnie met Ron Peters at church, and the two were married on September 15, 1961, in Kenosha WI. Together they raised their family and shared many happy years until Ron’s passing in 2008. In time, Bonnie found love again with Jerry Churchill of White Sulphur Springs, MT. After a short courtship, they were married on February 20, 2013, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Bonnie and Jerry, lived in MT and spent winters in Lake Havasu AZ. They spent their winter with friends and enjoyed boating. They spent several wonderful years together before his passing in April 2019. Bonnie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose kindness, gentle spirit, and faith left lasting imprints on all who knew her. She lived her life reflecting the love of Jesus in word and deed. Bonnie found joy in spending time with her family and friends, playing cards and games, and creating beautiful knitted and crocheted pieces. She also loved watching Hallmark movies. Her beloved dog, Winston Churchill, brought her endless joy, laughter, and companionship in her later years. She also was a faithful member of Sheridan Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Bonnie’s Family: Children: Dawn Peters of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; Debra Wenaas and husband Todd of Haskell, Oklahoma Grandchildren: Brian Peters, Paige Peters, Rabecca Peters, Jason Wenaas and wife Bethany, Jacob Wenaas and wife Alisha Great-Grandchildren: Hunter Wenaas, Wyatt Wenaas, Annabelle Wenaas, Zoey Breeze, Sage Wenaas, Brooklyn Wenaas, Waylon Wenaas, Charlotte Wenaas, and Walker Wenaas Siblings: Betty Whelham and husband Joe, Ted DeLaMatter, Dan DeLaMatter and wife Kathy, Dave DeLaMatter and wife Judy. Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Leona DeLaMatter, and her husbands, Ron Peters and Jerry Churchill. Her unwavering faith, warmth, and love will continue to inspire those who were blessed to know. Celebration of Life: Saturday, April 11th at the home of Debra and Todd Wenaas.
