Bobby S. Longest

Bobby S. Longest Services honoring the life of Bobby Sherrill Longest have been scheduled for 11:00 AM, Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at The Assembly in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma under the direction of Hayhurst Funeral Home. A committal service will follow at 2:00 PM at Fort Gibson National Cemetery, Fort Gibson, Oklahoma. Bobby Sherrill Longest was born on Friday, August 8, 1947 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma the son of Sherrill and Mildred (Ballard) Longest. Bobby died on Saturday, January 7, 2017 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was 69 years of age. Bobby graduated from high school in Sellersburg, Indiana. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War 1968-69, receiving numerous awards, including; Vietnam service medal with 4 bronze service stars, National Defense service medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign medal, Combat Infantryman badge, Purple Heart medal, Bronze Star medal and Army Commendation medal. He was also awarded Expert and Sharpshooter Marksmanship badges before he was honorably discharged from the military. Bobby married Miss Judy Key on January 29, 1991 in Cedar Hill, Texas. They attended church together at The Assembly in Broken Arrow. Bobby loved golfing and although he started later in life, he was an extremely good golfer. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching his favorite football teams, Dallas Cowboys and Oklahoma Sooners. Bobby will be remembered as charismatic, humorous and jovial. He was a prankster, always making jokes and making people laugh. He was also a straight shooter and could tell it like it is. Bobby cherished spending time with his family and was always there to help a friend in need. Memorials may be made to The Assembly, Building Fund, 118 E. Commercial, Broken Arrow, OK 74012. Bobby is survived by, Wife, Judy Longest, Tulsa, OK Children, Brandon Longest and wife Jennifer, North Pole, AK Tera Laird and husband Chris, Tulsa, OK Trisha Gross and husband Russ, Austin, TX Grandchildren, Ally Gross, Judah Laird, Joyanna Laird, Layna Longest, Anderson Gross, Micah Laird, Braiden Longest and Lily Longest Sister, Kathryn Kamer, Oklahoma City, OK Brothers, Terry Longest and wife Vicki, Oklahoma City, OK Marvin Baker, Eagles Nest, NM Nephews, Chad, Josh and Zack Longest, Scott Baker and Kevin Mull Numerous other nieces, nephews and cousins. Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, brother Steve Baker and nephew Bryan Baker.
