Barbara Ann McCall

On April 22, 2025, Barbara Ann McCall (nee Brown), passed away quietly from complications due to lung cancer in Tulsa, OK. Barbara, or Bobby as the family knew her, was a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend to so many people. She leaves behind her loving husband of 52 years, Robert McCall. Her grieving children are Grant Fritchey and wife Michele Fritchey, Kelly Craddock and husband Jim Craddock, Candice Roberts and husband John Roberts, Brenda Fischer and husband James Fischer. Barbara was well loved across her extended family. Barbara’s grandchildren already miss her calming influence and guidance. They are Chandler Roberts, Logan Roberts, Adelyn David, Owen David, Alyssa Cooper, Hayley Fischer, Hunter Fischer, Taylor Knisley, Molly Fritchey and Tristram Fritchey. Sadly, little Maxwell Jarrell, Alaska Turner, Denver Knisley and Camden Knisley won’t be able to grow up with their great-grandmother helping them along the way. Barbara’s last surviving sibling is Marvalee Hawkins of Wellsville, KS. She also leaves multiple nieces, nephews and cousins from her extended, and loving, family. Bobby was born in Joplin, MO, to Frances and Herbert Brown on January 30, 1946. She grew up in the small town of Sarcoxie, MO. She was a cheerleader in high school and worked at various jobs around town including waiting tables with her mother. Later, she and her son, Grant, moved to Tulsa, OK., with the help of her brother, Marlin Brown. Barbara went on to work for Oklahoma Natural Gas (ONG) from which she eventually retired. Barbara ended her days living in the town of Bixby, OK. Throughout her life, Bobby was known to make all sorts of food from a variety of recipes she had put together and collected. Among the family’s favorites were her Brown Derbies and her Steak Fingers, not to leave out Polish Mistakes. She liked nothing better than settling down with a Hallmark movie, card games on the computer, or Crushing Candy on her iPad. She was the only one in the family who didn’t laugh at her husband Bob’s jokes. She was a great keeper of the family lore and could always remember a story or a name that the rest of us forgot. She was a wonderful mother, providing both a very clear set of rules and guidelines as well as all the freedom a child needed to grow into their own person. Whether you called her Barbara, Bobby, mom, or grandma, we are united in our loss of such a wonderful person. The family will hold a celebration of life event for Barbara on Sunday, June 15, 2025.
