Theodore "Ted" Tipton

Services honoring the life of Theodore "Ted" Tipton have been scheduled for 10:00 AM, Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at Woodlake Assembly of God in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Hayhurst Funeral Home, Broken Arrow. Family and friends may visit the funeral home on Monday from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM and Tuesday from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM, with family there to receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday. Theodore Herman “Ted” Tipton was born on Friday, March 30, 1928 in McPherson, Kansas the son of Herman Mary (Rogers) Tipton. Ted passed away on Friday, February 3, 2017 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was 88 years of age. Ted was a 1946 graduate of McPherson High School and a veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Korean War. During his military service, Ted worked as a typist, providing reports to the Regimental Headquarters. Ted fell in love at first sight with Miss Betty Ruth Cornsilk and married her on July 31, 1955 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Their marriage was blessed with two children. Ted attended Business College in Chillicothe, Missouri before graduating from Oklahoma City University, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. He worked as a Financial Analyst for Occidental Oil for 35 years before retiring. Ted enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his three grandchildren and one great granddaughter. He loved animals, golfing, swimming, singing in the church choir, attending all his grandchildren’s sporting events and just being with Betty. Ted took great pride in his yard and his lawn looked like a putting green. He also loved helping his children and friends with their yard work. He always put others before himself. He was a faithful member of Woodlake Church in Tulsa and an active volunteer. Memorials may be made to Woodlake Assembly of God Church, 7100 E. 31st. St., Tulsa, OK 74145. Ted is survived by, Wife, Betty Tipton, Tulsa, OK Son, Steve Tipton and wife Cindy, Tulsa, OK Daughter, Karen Tipton, New Orleans, LA Grandchildren, Andrew Tipton, Allison Belanger and husband Matthew, Addie Lee and husband Christopher Great Granddaughter, Sophie Ruth Belanger Several Nieces, Nephews, Other Loving Family and Friends. Ted was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Doris Carlson.
