Ruth Maxine Ballew

Services honoring the life of Ruth “Maxine” Ballew will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 4, 2017 at Hayhurst Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will take place at 2:00 p.m. at Tahlequah City Cemetery. Friends may visit the funeral home on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. with family there to receive visitors from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Ruth “Maxine” Ballew was born Monday, July 13, 1931 in Everton, Missouri to Ivan Alfred and Ona Olive (Underwood) Hosman. Maxine passed away on Friday, July 28, 2017 at the age of 86. Maxine graduated from Claflin High School in Claflin, Kansas in 1949. She married Dewey Gene Ballew on May 16, 1953 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Their union was blessed with four children. Maxine was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She adored her family and loved spending time with them. When her children were young, Maxine never missed one of their activities and she lovingly made clothing for her children. Maxine was the ultimate caregiver and took excellent care of her family. Maxine loved music and was very gifted musically as she could play 17 different instruments including the pump organ at childhood Baptist church. She also loved to travel and enjoyed exploring new destinations with family and friends. Maxine started the Mothers of Twins Club in Broken Arrow in the early 1970’s. The purity of Maxine Ballew’s profound goodness, selflessness, gracious kindness along with her love and her sincere thoughtful actions are all a tribute to her memory and will be carried on in the legacy of love. Maxine’s family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support during this time of sorrow. Today will celebrate your life on this earth and look forward to seeing you along with our Heavenly Father. Maxine will be deeply missed by all and forever remembered with great love, and will continue to live on in our hearts. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 2448 E. 81st St., Tulsa, OK 74137. Maxine is survived by, Husband, Dr. Dewey G. Ballew, D.D.S., Broken Arrow, OK Children, Kenneth Ballew, Muskogee, OK Brent Ballew and wife Lin, Tahlequah, OK Brenda Griffin and husband Greg, Broken Arrow, OK Linda Newkirk and husband Shawn, Broken Arrow, OK Grandchildren, Tommy, Heather (Brian), Kendra, Brian (Kim), Eric (Amanda), Keeley, Sasha, Hunter Great Grandchildren, Keith, Maisie, Dylan, Shawn 2 Great Great Grandchildren, Lexy, Abby Brother, Rodney Hosman and wife Val, Aurora, CO Maxine was preceded in death by her parents and great granddaughter Danielle.
