Norma Jean Lindsay

A celebration of the life of Norma Jean Lindsay will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at the Hayhurst Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Fort Gibson Citizen’s Cemetery. Friends may visit the funeral home on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. with family there to receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Norma passed away on Monday, August 22, 2016 at the age of 67. She fought like a warrior in the battle of Alzheimer’s for 8 years and was surrounded by her family when she passed in her home. Norma was born on Thursday, September 23, 1948 in Jasper, Texas. Her parents were Stone and Lois (Jefferson) Martindale. She attended school and graduated from Jasper High School in 1966. She was academically in the top ten percent of her class and named the “Who’s Who in Business” for her senior class. On March 8, 1969, Norma married the love of her life, Rex Lindsay, in a Jasper wedding ceremony. Their forty- seven year union was blessed with two children: a daughter, Sherri and a son, Darren. Norma was a wonderful wife and mother. She dedicated her life to taking care of her family and was the ultimate homemaker. Norma adored her granddaughters and loved spending time with them. In her free time Norma enjoyed using her creative skills for cross stitching and knitting. She loved listening to music, especially the oldies but goodies, and would sing and dance every time she heard Elvis Presley. One of her favorite things to do was go on cruises with her beloved family. Norma volunteered throughout her entire life for organizations that were close to heart. Those included school PTA programs for both her children and church functions with close friends. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 2448 E. 81st St., Tulsa, OK 74137. Norma is survived by: Husband, Rex Lindsay of Broken Arrow OK Children: Sherri (Lindsay) Jones and husband Kyle of Broken Arrow OK Darren Lindsay of Broken Arrow OK Granddaughters: Kaitlin Jean (Jones) Voska and husband Manny of Tulsa OK Kinslee Faith Jones of Broken Arrow OK Brother-in-law, Richard Lindsay of Tulsa OK Sister-in-law, Linda (Lindsay) Jones and husband Charles of Silsbee, TX Extended loving family and friends. Norma was preceded in death by both her parents.
