Jaletta Fisher

Jaletta Irene Fisher was born in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma on Monday, February 13, 1956, to Robert Sterling and Vorcie “Jane” (Burt) Young. She passed from this life surrounded by her family to her eternal home in heaven on Thursday, August 5, 2021, in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 65. Jaletta was the youngest and only daughter of three children born to the Youngs. She had two older brothers and the family was close-knit their entire lives. They farmed 40 acres near Coweta with cows, horses, chickens, and pigs, and had a large vegetable garden. As a young girl, Jaletta had a horse that she was very fond of. Jaletta learned her strong work ethic in her early childhood spent on her family farm, and she translated that to her adult career working for Walmart until retirement at age 62. Jaletta found the love of her life when she began dating a handsome young man by the name of Ron Fisher whom she met while in high school. The two married on October 12, 1974, four months after she graduated from Coweta High School. They became the parents to four children, two sons and two daughters. She was a wonderful mother, but her favorite “job” was that of Mimi to her 10 grandchildren. They were #1 in her life, but her children were a close second. Jaletta overcame many challenges in recent years. She cared for both of her parents in their final years of life. In 2014, she grieved the loss of Ron, the love of her life, and in 2018 she suffered a catastrophic fall and worked hard to surpass her doctor’s expectations and walk again. In fact, she enjoyed walking many mornings with her good friend, Dee. But she didn’t just walk again, she went on adventure after adventure. She enjoyed vacationing with her family and friends to locations such as Colorado, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Branson, Florida, Texas, Alabama, Kentucky, Kansas, and Mexico. Her children describe Jaletta as selfless, ornery, strong, stubborn and a woman of faith who loved Jesus. She always made sure she had her children in church. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Recently, Jaletta had been attending and supporting Thomas Community Church in Broken Arrow. In lieu of flowers, Jaletta’s family ask that you consider donating in her name to the “Vision Fund” of Thomas Community Church. Left to treasure her memory are son, Josh Fisher of Owasso Daughter Ronetta Boswell (husband Christopher) of Coweta Son, Jarad Fisher (wife Rhonda) of Coweta Daughter, Valerie Pitcock (husband Kent) of Coweta Brothers, Ronnie Young of Coweta, and Stanley Young (wife Judy) of Tahlequah 10 Grandchildren: Veronika, Aspyn, Joshua, Shyann, Tyler, Mikey, Milly, Gavin, Bohdi, and Sawyer Boone. Brother-in-law, Wesley Fisher and sisters-in-law, Barbara Kilgore and Clarissa Wilson; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Jane Young, her husband Ron Fisher, and a grandson Jarek.
