Elwina Kay Sehon

Elwina Kay Sehon (Kay), 79 of Broken Arrow Oklahoma departed this earth on Saturday October 28th after years of struggle with Alzheimer’s disease and the pain of arthritis. Kay was born on September 21st, 1944 to Elwin Brandon Bryant and Beatrice Alberta Hutchings in Wesley Hospital Midwest City Oklahoma. Kay attended Will Rogers High School in Tulsa Oklahoma. In 1969 while employed at Fram filters in Tulsa she met a wild eyed man James Edwin Sehon (Jim) and on December 5th 1970 they were married. She spent the nearly fifty three years taming that rascal down, turning him into a loving husband and patient father. Together they raised two lovely daughters Danean Suzette Stephens and Kathryn Lynn Wacker both living in Broken Arrow. The daughters produced four grandchildren, Valerie Kay Buck of Bixby, James Ian Rountree of California, Brandon Paul Sehon of Tulsa and Tyler Chance Spencer of Pennsylvania. There are five great-grandchildren, Kelsi Renee Buck, Parker Alan Buck and Paxton James Buck of Bixby and Madelyn Elizabeth Rountree and Rowan Marie Rountree in California. Kay’s most outstanding job was being a caring mother and loving wife. After the two daughters were raised, she turned that love into work at the church and later to just spreading that love wherever she went. Kay had many hobbies including oil painting, creating looped rugs, all sorts of crafts and reading numerous novels. She has now stepped into eternity, bowed before the throne of El Shaddai (God Almighty) and placed her crown of glory at his feet. Knowing Kay she has already found Jesus and given him a giant bear hug and expressed her love for him. She then had a glorious reunion with her Dad, Mister Bryant, Mom, Bea, older sister Joyce Wheaton and her several children who never made it into this world. Kay leaves behind her husband Jim, daughters, Danean and Kathy and husband Chris Wacker, sisters Sandra Smith and husband Louis of Broken Arrow and Gloria Bryant of Tulsa, Grandchildren, Valerie Buck and husband Kody, Ian Rountree and wife Jessica, Brandon Sehon and wife Lindsey and Tyler Spencer. We all grieve at the loss of Kay, because our selfish human nature longs for that personal touch and loving human contact. We also recognize that Kay has shed the human shell with all its pain and suffering and put on the robe of glory and will spend eternity in heaven. We look forward to that day when we too will celebrate in that great reunion. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations should be made in Kay’s name to Alzheimer's Association Oklahoma Chapter 2448 E. 81st Street Suite 3000 Tulsa, OK 74137. This disease slowly destroys the mind of the victim leaving the body to slowly seep away until death occurs and the family to watch helplessly. Research has made great strides in identifying the cause and a vaccine is promised in the near future. We hope that your gifts will help find a cure for this evil disease and educate and comfort Alzheimer families in the Tulsa area. We recommend that all people that attend these services wear something colorful and cheery. Jim will be wearing a Hawaiian shirt. This will be a celebration, not something to be sad and mournful. We expect tears and joy at the same time. If you are from the old school and feel that dressing up, with suit and tie, please don’t. We would hate for some of the attendees to be mistaken for ushers. Business casual attire if you must. If something happens where the services must happen after dark, pajamas would be somewhat acceptable, otherwise no night clothes or flip flops, please.
