Anna Wiley

Anna left us to be with her true love in their mansion in the sky. She died peacefully in Gunnison, CO, surrounded by family on August 10, 2019 at the age of 95 years. She is survived by her daughter, Wanda Anderson and husband Jim of Gunnison, CO, son Jerry Wiley and wife Jane of Tulsa, OK, son Jim Wiley and wife Cheryl of Sand Springs, OK, seven grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. She had three brothers, James, Charles, and Donald, all of whom preceded her in death. Anna was born March 13, 1924 in Jenks, OK where she lived through her childhood and graduated high school in 1941. Anna met Truman at Connors State College when she bought his chemistry book. They hit it off and became sweethearts. When Truman joined the Air Corps, Anna worked at Spartan as a ‘Rosie the Riveter.’ They got married in 1944 while he was on leave and when he left the Air Corps in 1945, they started a family. They soon had three small children, and Anna tended to them while Truman went to college and then to work. When the kids were older, Anna worked in the medical field as a nursing assistant and unit secretary to earn money to pay for their college. Anna was involved with the home extension and had her kids in 4H. She was an avid sewer and made gowns for premature babies and was a member of the Embroiderers’ Guild of America and often entered her work in the Tulsa State Fair. She also made Wanda’s wedding dress and sewed quilts for all her grandchildren when they graduated high school. Anna became a member of Arrow Heights Baptist Church in 1960. She was a teacher in the Sunday school program, helped with activities, hosted families and was a just a very active member in the church. Anna and her husband, Truman, moved to Gunnison, CO in 2008 to be closer to their daughter. We will miss Anna, she was our rock, and she made everything better. A funeral service will be held Saturday August 24, 2019, 11:00 a.m. at Arrow Heights Baptist Church in Broken Arrow, OK. Viewing will be at the funeral home on Friday, August 23, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Burial will be on Monday, August 26, 2019 at Park Grove Cemetery.
