Funeral Mass for Joseph “Joe” D. Alcott, Sr. has been scheduled for 11:00 AM, Friday, November 9, 2007 at the Church of St. Benedict in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Celebrants will be Monsignor Patrick Gaalaas, Father Joe Townsend, and Father James McGlinchie. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Tulsa, Oklahoma under the direction of Hayhurst Funeral Home. A Rosary will be held at 7:00 PM, Thursday, November 8, at Church of St. Benedict. Viewing will be from 9:00 am to 6:00 PM, Thursday at Hayhurst.

Joseph “Joe” D. Alcott, Sr. was born March 6, 1922 in Kenosha, Wisconsin the son of Joseph Stephens and Elgie (Gugerty) Alcott. He died Saturday, November 3, 2007 at Franciscan Villa in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. He was 85 years of age.

Joe was a 1940 graduate of Kenosha, Wisconsin High School and the University of Wisconsin in 1943. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving on the USS Irwin 794 in the Pacific during WWII . He graduated from MidShapman Naval Officers School at Columbia University in New York. He married Blanche Lewis, his wife of 32 years, on August 30, 1952 in Hoisington, Kansas. They moved to Broken Arrow in July 1969 from Hoisington. Blanche preceded him in death on June 8, 1983. Joe was a Chemical Engineer and Manager of Partner Operations for Terra Resources, where he was responsible for wildcatting and discovering the most producing oil well in the State of Kansas. He also worked for Shell Oil and Farmland Industries, among other companies. He enjoyed his family, the stock market, and traveling. He received his degree as a Dr. of Naturopathy and established Change Ltd, a non profit organization, helping people about wellness and pulmonary disease. He volunteered for Meals on Wheels. He was a member of St. Benedict Parish Council and My Prayer Group.
